The municipality of Murcia, under the leadership of Mayor Victor Gerardo Rojas, Vice-Mayor Johnny Reosura, and Sangguniang Bayan members, has embarked on a program to upgrade the mobility of offices of the town.

Rojas led the turnover recently of a brand-new Toyota pickup to the Municipal Agriculture Office headed by Joy Sibuera, a press release from the town said.

“We need to acquire new service vehicles for our local offices to improve their mobility in delivering the services of their respective departments to our beloved Murciahanons,” Rojas said.

The acquisition of more brand-new service vehicles for other departments and offices is ongoing on a staggered basis. “With this program, we aim to empower our municipal employees and encourage them to deliver more efficient and responsive service to our people. In a couple of weeks, another brand-new Toyota pick-up is expected to arrive for the Assessor’s Office, headed by Randy Gamboa,” the mayor added.

This follows the acquisition and turnover recently of a brand-new Toyota pickup to the Engineering Office, headed by Engineer Danilo Sedonio, another brand-new Toyota pickup to the Treasurer’s Office, headed by Saturnina de Isidro, and a brand-new 12-seater Toyota Grandia van to the Office of the Sangguniang Bayan, under Reosura, in December.

Also in December, the Murcia Police Office, under OIC P/Lt. John Paul Tabujara, received a band-new Toyota patrol car from the Philippine National Police, through the Police Regional Office 6 in Iloilo City, to bolster its mission in maintaining the peace and order in the town, the press release said.

The transportation upgrading and acquisition program under the administration of Rojas started last year yet with the acquisition in February 2020 of a brand-new Hyundai H100 jeepney type van sourced from local funds for the Murcia Social Welfare and Development Office, headed by Ana Naranja, and two dump trucks for use in the town’s Solid Waste Management and Environmental Sanitation Program.

The acquisition of the two trucks, worth P2.9 million in all, was facilitated by the Office of Third District Rep. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez from the financial assistance for the implementation of priority projects of the local government unit, through the Local Government Support Fund-Other Financial Assistance to LGUs, as provided for under the General Appropriations Act of 2019.

Sedonio thanked the mayor and other town officials for granting the request of the Engineering Office for a new service vehicle, adding that in his long years of government service, this is the first time that he and his staff will be using a brand new service vehicle.

“This new pick-up is a big help to fast track the implementation of the town’s engineering projects. Instead of crowding our staff in our single existing dilapidated vehicle and visit only a limited number of project sites, we can now split our staff into two teams, visit more project sites, accomplish more tasks and expedite the implementation of projects for the benefit of Murciahanons,” Sedonio added.*
