A leader of local Muslim community was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman on Tuesday night in Brgy. 4, Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
The victim was identified by the police as Iksan Umpar, 35, of Toreno Heights Subdivision in Bergy. 3, Victorias City.
Umpar, who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, was declared dead on arrival at the Victorias City Emergency Clinic, according to initial investigations of the police.
The victim was inside his vehicle when the unidentified gunman approached and shot him.
The shooting incident was witnessed by the wife of the victim.
Recovered from the scene of incident were three empty shells and a fired cartridge believed to that of 9mm pistol.
The motive of the shooting incident is still being established by the police. Umpar was reported as a Muslim community leader in Victorias City.*
