NCCA awards P400K grant for heritage district workshop

A financial grant of P400,000 from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) was awarded to the local government unit of Silay for its proposal, “Capability Building Seminar-Workshop for a Resilient and Sustainable Heritage District.”

According to a press release from the Silay City Tourism Division, the workshop scheduled on May 30-31, at the Sen. Jose C. Locsin Cultural and Civic Center, has involved the participation of some 53 government employees from the cities of Silay and Sta. Rosa, Laguna, College of Notre Dame, Jolo; Department of Education- Silay and Negros Occidental, museums and heritage houses.

Aimed at capacitating the community with the technical know-how on heritage conservation and protection and strengthening the LGUs effort to protect and safeguard its cultural properties, the workshop focused on the city’s Tangible and Immoveable Heritage, Intangible and Moveable Heritage, Sustainability, Documentation and Adaptive Reuse: the RCBC Story.

Resource persons include Ar. Edgardo Mar Castro, Professor and President, Arkicamp Heritage Fil-Asia, Inc.; IDr. Anna Marie Bautista, MHCS, UST Professor and former Asst. Director of UST Museum; Ar. Harry Serrano; Executive Director, Asia-Pacific College of Architecture; Ar. Iñaki de Rivera, Metro Cebu Business Development Head and ARCHIGLOBAL Inc.; and Ar. Rolando Ramirez, Jr., Head, Property Management, RCBC.

Other members of the team are Ar. Michael Buenaventura and Ar. Carlos Gallardo of Arkicamp HFSI.*
