The National Economic and Development Authority in Western Visayas is working to secure its work transactions online under the “new normal”.
Ro-Ann Bacal, NEDA Western Visayas director, and the staff of the regional office recently attended an orientation on the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI), conducted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
She said they requested for an orientation “because we have adopted the work-from-home arrangement, so it is very important to safeguard the authenticity of documents and information sent online.”
She added this is also to expedite and secure online transactions.
The system is a set of hardware, software, policies, personnel, and procedures needed to create, manage, distribute, use, store, and revoke digital certificates to ensure confidentiality, authenticity, integrity, and non-repudiation of electronic transactions and documents.
Bacal said the orientation was well received by the staff, who expressed support in adopting the use of these digital signatures to facilitate secure and faster remote work transactions.
She said the NEDA regional office intends to implement the use of the PNPKI digital services this month.*MPE
