Seventeen personnel of the Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office are under quarantine at the two provincial government farms pending the release of the results of their swab tests.

This was confirmed by Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II yesterday, adding that the personnel came in contact with a PVO employee, who earlier tested positive for Covid-19.

He said they were supposed to stay in isolation at the Mambukal Summer Resort, but opted to remain at the Provincial Livestock Breeding Center and Dairy Farm in La Carlota City, and Negros First Ranch in Murcia.

Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said the PVO workers are in isolation and have not gone out of their rooms. He added that he already assigned two temporary managers to run the farms.

He said proper quarantine protocols were followed, including the disinfection of the premises, and they also closely coordinated with concerned local government units.

He added the personnel came in contact with the positive patient two weeks ago, and they were swabbed Friday “for peace of mind”.

He said he already asked the Provincial Health Office to fast track the release of the results. He also stressed that the two provincial farms are not on lockdown.

Meanwhile, he appealed to the public not to ridicule and discriminate the PVO workers as they also have families. He said they are doing their best to address the situation.*
