The province of Negros Occidental and its 30 component cities and municipalities were lauded by the Department of Interior and Local Government for achieving the 2024 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) distinction.
In a statement, DILG Negros Occidental said the unwavering commitment to accountability and financial excellence of the concerned local government units sets a remarkable standard in local governance.
Aside from the provincial government of Negros Occidental, the GFH passers from the province are the municipalities of EB Magalona, Binalbagan, Calatrava, Candoni, Cauayan, Hinigaran, Ilog, Isabela, La Castellana, Manapla, Moises Padilla, Murcia, Pontevedra, Pulupandan, San Enrique, Toboso, Valladolid, and Don Salvador Benedicto;
Along with the component cities of Victorias, Bago, Cadiz, Escalante, Himamaylan, Kabankalan, La Carlota, Sagay, San Carlos, Silay, Sipalay, and Talisay.
Only Hinobaan failed to make it to the list of GFH passers.
To be awarded the GFH accolade, local government units (LGUs) must meet accounting and auditing standard regulations and pass an evaluation by the Commission on Audit (COA).
According to DILG, passing the GFH, which seeks to recognize local government units that excel in financial transparency, is a requirement for the Seal of Good Local Governance.*
