The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office has stepped up the implementation of the Intensified Cleanliness Policy in all police stations as part of the directive of Philippine National Police chief, Gen. Guillermo Eleazar.

Lt. Abegael Donasco, deputy public information officer, said yesterday that Col. Romy Palgue, police provincial director, has emphasized compliance among the personnel in the main headquarters here, as well as in all 31 police stations across the province.

“They should not only comply because it was directed by the PNP chief, but also show that police officers in Negros Occidental are serving the Negrenses well,” she added.

On Thursday, Donasco joined Maj. Jesus Mesajon, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Unit, and Lt. Hanibal Homecgoy, assistant chief of Provincial Intelligence Unit, during the inspection of police stations in the province’s third district, particularly the E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station.

Last weekend, National Police Commission-Western Visayas regional director Joseph Celis called out the personnel of E.B. Magalona MPS after he found them sleeping on the job and observed that their headquarters was stinking, during a surprise inspection before midnight on May 14.

After the incident, Palgue ordered the relief of the station chief and the conduct of an investigation.

Donasco said that during the inspection Thursday, they asked the six personnel on duty to explain the “minor defects” noted in the station, adding that the comfort room in the headquarters is now being renovated.

During his assumption of office as the 26th PNP chief, Eleazar said one of the main thrusts of the ICP is ensuring cleanliness in all precincts, stations, and offices.

“The ICP is anchored on the broken window policy which states that small problems must be immediately addressed to prevent them from getting worse,” he added.*PNA
