Dengue cases in Negros Occidental, including highly urbanized Bacolod City, still on a downward trend, but 10 deaths were recorded as of September 30.
The Provincial Health Office reported a decrease of dengue cases to 1,158, from January to Sept. 30 this year, compared to 4,431 cases for the same period of 2022, registering a reduction of 79.80 percent. However, the PHO logged only seven deaths during that same period.
San Carlos City topped the 31 local government units in Negros Occidental in terms of having the most dengue cases at 153.
The Bacolod City Health Office also logged three dengue related deaths, all minors, in Brgys. Villamonte, Tangub, and Mansilingan, compared to 10 last year.
Cases also reduced from 817 last year to 403, with the most affected age group being from one to 10-years-old, the CHO report also indicated.
Clustering of dengue cases were reported in Brgys. Mansilingan, Cabug, Alijis, and Singcang in Bacolod City.
On the other hand, the PHO also recorded eight cholera related deaths in Negros Occidental, with zero in Bacolod City.*
