About P1.5 million in drugs and biologics was distributed by the Provincial Veterinary Office yesterday to the six district field units in Negros Occidental that will soon be known as Abanse Negrense district animal health centers.
Provincial veterinarian Dr. Renante Decena said these drugs and biologics are part of their campaign to strengthen the implementation of districtalized animal health extension services in Negros Occidental.
He said the biologics included anti-bacterial, anti-parasitic, vitamins, mineral supplements and vaccines for common livestock and poultry diseases, such as rabies, hog cholera, new castle disease, and infectious coryza.
Decena added that these will also arrest the high mortality rate among chickens due to NCD, especially in Sitio Minnesota, Brgy. Sag-ang, La Castellana, and other sporadic diseases in other areas of the province.
The PVO district field units will conduct medical missions in the barangays to provide veterinary care and services to pet owners and livestock and poultry raisers.*
