The risk classifications of Negros Occidental and highly-urbanized Bacolod City have remained to low and moderate, respectively, as reported by the Department of Health-Western Visayas.

Negros Occidental was placed under Alert Level 2, while highly-urbanized Bacolod City remains at Alert Level 4.

Areas under alert level 2 are those with low and decreasing case transmission, low healthcare utilization, but with reported cases of the Delta variant, while alert level 4 are those with huge case count and high health care utilization rates.

In a virtual presser, Dr. Daphynie Teorima, DOH-Western Visayas Center for Health Development Medical Officer 3, reported that Average Daily Attack Rate for Negros Occidental further went down 5.16 percent per 100,000 population, as of Oct. 25, compared to 8.28 percent last week.

At the same time, the 2-week growth rate of COVID-19 in the province was recorded at negative 38 percent

Teorima also reported that the health care utilization rate of Negros Occidental was further reduced to 67.54 percent, compared to 73.84 percent of Bacolod City, with COVID-19 attack rate also reduced to 16.17 percent per 100,000 population.

Despite reduction of health system monitoring, Teorima said Negros Occidental placed at moderate risk for high risk for Bacolod City.

The DOH-Western Visayas also recorded a negative 38 percent two-week growth rate of COVID-19 in Negros Occidental and negative 25 in Bacolod City.

Teorima also reported that a hospital in Bacolod City will be used in administering vaccines to minors, with comorbidities.

It reported there are 704 children ages 12 to 17 with comorbidities have registered for the pediatric vaccination, which will be held at Dr. Pablo O. Torre Medical Center in Bacolod City.*
