Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson extended yesterday the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) status of Negros Occidental until March 31 this year.
In Executive Order No. 21-14 he issued yesterday, Lacson noted that Negros Occidental has 6,811 confirmed Covid-19 cases, as of Feb. 24.
Because of the rising number of confirmed cases, not only in Negros Occidental, but in the entire country as well, there is still a need to place Negros Occidental under the MGCQ, he added.
Bago City and the municipalities of Candoni, Cauayan, Hinigaran, Isabela, Manapla, Murcia, Salvador Benedicto, and Valladolid had zero Covid-19 cases, as of Feb. 24.
Silay City, meanwhile, had the most number of active cases at 24.
Of the 6,811 confirmed cases in Negros Occidental, 6,518 have already recovered, with 78 active cases and 215 deaths, since March 27 last year. Mayor Evelio Leonardia has yet to decide whether to extend the MGCQ status of Bacolod City, that had 68 active cases, as of Feb. 25.*
