Various agricultural sectors and professionals across the country convened to celebrate the 12th Philippine Association of Agriculturists (PAA) National Congress and the 2025 Agriculturist’s Summit hosted by the Province of Negros Occidental at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.
The event is a gathering of licensed professional agriculturists and stakeholders from all over the Philippines, marking a pivotal step in strengthening the role of professionals in transformative and sustainable agriculture, and will run until August 1.
With the theme “Transformative Agriculture Towards a Resilient and Sustainable Food System,” the week-long activity features the country’s leading agriculturists, researchers, and policymakers.
“As a predominantly agricultural province, Negros Occidental is honored to host this national gathering of agriculture professionals and advocates who are helping shape the future of food and farming in the Philippines,” Provincial Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said in his welcoming address.
While the event is held to discuss innovative approaches in agriculture amidst climate change, food insecurity, and rural development challenges, Lacson highlighted the need of the agriculture sector to adapt to the nonstop changing of the world and to provide solutions to climate change.
“While agriculture remains our backbone, it must also be treated as an evolving, adaptive industry—connected to science, powered by technology, and supported by sustainable practices. As we confront the growing threats of climate change, our commitment is to help our farmers become more productive, climate-resilient, and better linked to markets,” he highlighted.*
