The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Police chief will have a new commander today, in the person of PCol. Alex Guce Recinto.
Recinto will replace PCol. Reynaldo Lizardo, who was relieved on March 22 as NORPPO police director, more than two weeks after the killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo and eight others, on March 4, in Pamplona, Negros Oriental. Seventeen others were also hurt in the brazen armed attack at Degamo’s residence.
Last week, PBrig. Gen. Jerry Bearis was relieved as Police Regional Office 7 director.
The PRO7 supervises the NORPPO, Cebu City Police Office, Bohol, Cebu and Siquijor Police Provincial Offices.
The next assignment of Lizardo has yet to be known.
“This is an administrative process within the organization where a commander is relieved of his or her current position to give way to an impartial investigation,” Lizardo told Philippine News Agency based in Dumaguete City.
Before the relief of Bearis and Lizardo, the entire police forces of Bayawan and Santa Catalina, both in Negros Oriental, were relieved and replaced by police officers from Cebu.
Bearis is now the Aviation Security Group chief of the PNP.*
