The Filipino community erupted with cheers at the Greenville Softball Stadium in North Carolina, USA as the Filipino community again roared when the Philippines-Asia Pacific girls from Negros Occidental clipped the New England girls in a 1-0 victory on August 13 (early Sunday Philippine time).

The win puts the Philippine team on the path to the semifinals and hopefully, the gold, a press release from the Provincial Sports Office said.

The Negrense girls are the most loved among the teams for their friendly character and attitude in the games despite being the smallest among all the participants, the press release added.

Coming 8,986 miles away, the Filipina softbelles gave their rivals a display of power pitching that put the didn’t allow their opponents to score throughout the entire game. The Negrense girls scored the only run of the match on the first inning.

“Inspired by the support of Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson, the girls are just too eager to make another win,” said Anthony Carlo Agustin, head of the delegation and the Provincial Sports Office.*
