It was tagged as a fun and exciting game by the Filipino community as several families cheered the Philippine-Asia Pacific girls softball team, major division, showing off their power-packed play at the 2022 Little League Softball World Series.
In the ongoing tournament held in Greenville, North Carolina, USA this week, the young and petite Negrenses toppled team EU-Africa Italy 4-1, a press release from the Provincial Sports Office said.
The pitching power of the team from Negros Occidental, inspired and supported by Governor Eugenio Lacson, gave its rivals the show of speed and power of the Negrense girls under the heat wave at the venue.
A day before, the Negrense team, representing the Asia-Pacific region, also won against Canada with a 1-0 score line.
Led by Provincial Sports head Anthony Carlo Agustin, the delegation was overjoyed with the inspiring attendance of Filipinos in North Carolina volunteering the care and providing food for the team. “It’s really touching that Filipinos here are out there cheering the Negrenses during the games,” Agustin said.*
