Negros Leni groups extend P3.5M worth of goods to typhoon victims

Volunteer groups of Leni Robredo in Negros Occidental helped 9,011 families in 24-typhoon affected areas of Negros Occidental by giving them P3.5 million worth of relief goods gathered from private donors.

Negros Youth for Leni and Negros for Leni worked with Dapat Si Leni and Robredo People’s Council to collect 24,250 kilograms of rice, 12,683 pieces of canned goods, 10,878 packs of noodles, 1,000 kilograms of sugar, 500 kilograms of monggo, 19,921 liters of water, 4,192 hygiene kits, 2,000 kilograms of dry goods, and 400 thermal mats.

Negros Youth for Leni, the biggest youth volunteer network of Leni Robredo in Negros, also crowdfunded P237,741.45 in cash for the relief efforts in the island. The youth network also organized relief packing initiatives in the Negros for Leni headquarters with volunteers from all over the Negros Island.

The relief operation was carried on with the tagline, “Mas Radikal Magmahal”.

Robredo is popularly known for the line ‘Mas Radikal Magmahal,’ which she imparted to supporters to remind them of being kind, compassionate, and understanding to fellow Filipinos.

Presidential Aspirant Leni Robredo visited Negros Island on December 21, 2021 to bring aid and to assess the situation of the affected areas after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette. The island was one of the areas severely hit by Typhoon Odette.

The Leni groups in Negros are known for organizing feeding programs by giving lugaw and bread to urban and rural poor communities.*
