The provincial government of Negros Occidental and highly-urbanized Bacolod City yesterday received 73,400 doses of Moderna vaccines from the national government.
Of the vaccines delivered by the Philippine Air Lines cargo flight, the 6,600 vials of Moderna vaccine, which is equivalent to 66,000 doses, have been earmarked for the province of Negros Occidental, while the 740 vials of similar brand of vaccines, equivalent to 7,400 doses, were given to Bacolod City.
Juanito Tanchico, newly-installed Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) manager of Bacolod-Silay Airport, has supervised the unloading of vaccines from the plane and its transport to the cold storage facilities of the Bacolod City and provincial government.
The Department of Health- Western Visayas reported yesterday that Negros Occidental has an additional 122 new COVID 19 cases, and 46 more for Bacolod City.
This brought to 4,414 the total number of COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental, and 1,697 in Bacolod City, DOH records show.
Provincial Inter Agency Task Force action officer Rayfrando Diaz reported that the province has vaccinated 377, 318 residents or 21 percent, of the targeted 1,825, 370 Negrenses, as of October 19.*
