The 2022 Little League Philippines Series National Softball Finals was recently held in Bago City, Negros Occidental with ten cities and provinces participating from all over the country, a press release from the Negros Occidental Provincial Sports Office said.
Three divisions of young and well-trained softbelles were entered to play in the tournament: Majors, Juniors and Seniors.
Winning the different divisions were: Majors – champion, Negros Occidental; 1st runner-up, Bago City; 2nd runner-up, Tanauan City in Batangas.
In the Juniors division, the Bago City team bagged the championship title followed by Negros Occidental and Maragusan team of Davao de Oro.
The Seniors Division championship honors went to the Negros Occidental softbelles that won over Tanauan while Bago City ended up as 2nd Runner-up.
The participating teams came from Negros Occidental, Bago City, Dumaguete City, Tanauan City, Pasig City, Kalinga, Bulacan, Sarangani, Davao City and Maragusan, Davao de Oro.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson expressed his gratitude to the visiting softball teams, making the province a sports tourism destination. In same manner, Provincial Sports Head Anthony Carlo Agustin thanked the provincial teams for showing a tough and challenging sportsmanship attitude in all their games.
All the champion teams will represent the country in the coming 2022 Asia Pacific Regional Softball Tournament next month to be hosted by the Philippines.*
