The Office of the President gave P50 million in assistance to the provincial government of Negros Occidental, on top of the P60 million it extended to Negros Oriental to address the needs of evacuees affected by the Kanlaon volcano eruption.
Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator of Negros Occidental, thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his help and said they are still waiting for guidelines on how to utilize the P50 million financial assistance.
A total of 11,883 families, composed of 45,526 individuals, in 32 barangays of Regions 6 and 7, have been affected by the Kanlaon volcano eruption on December 9, according to a report of the Office of the Civil Defense.
A report of the Department of Health – Negros Island Region, said there are 4,440 families, composed of 14,116 individuals, staying at evacuation centers in La Castellana, La Carlota City, and Bago City in Negros Occidental, and Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, as of Dec. 27.
Of the 1,735 persons who availed of medical consultations, the top five causes of consultations included cough – 300, 199 – fever, 177 – headache, 117 – stomach ache, 39 – loose stool, the DOH-NIR-CHD report added.

In the past 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology recorded three ash emission events at the Kanlaon volcano, with a duration of 12 to 52 minutes, and 16 volcanic quakes, including six volcanic tremors, which lasted from four minutes to 52 minutes.*
