The Negros Occidental Provincial Athletic Meet officially opened on January 27, bringing together hundreds of young athletes from across the province in a celebration of sportsmanship, talent, and community pride.
The ceremony, held at the Panaad Park Sports and Stadium, featured vibrant parade of contingents representing each participating municipality and city, with performers showcasing dances, music and the field demonstration of Negros Occidental High School highlighting the opening event.
Provincial official Board Member Rita Gatuslao declared the meet open on behalf of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, emphasizing the event’s role in nurturing grassroots sports and fostering unity among Negrense.
Over the next four days, athletes will compete in discipline in the games of athletics, basketball, volleyball, taekwondo, arnis and others vying for top honors in the regional competitions.
