Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said that the sports facilities of the Negros Occidental provincial government are ready to host the 2024 Palarong Pambansa.
Negros Occidental is competing against Antique and Cebu City to host next year’s Palarong Pambansa.
On June 26, Palarong Pambansa technical inspectors from Department of Education and Philippine Sports Commission paid a courtesy visit to Lacson after inspecting the province sports facilities.
Lacson said that a team from Negros Occidental will hold a face-to-face presentation in July, in connection with their bid to host the annual school- based sports event.
Marikina City is hosting the 2023 Palarong Pambansa scheduled from July 29 to August 5
A swimming pool and gym are being constructed as additional sport facilities at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
The Palarong Pambansa is considered as the largest sporting event in the Philippines, with an estimated 10,000 of the best elementary and secondary athletes and officials from the 17 regions of the country expected to participate.
In 2021, Negros Occidental was supposed to host the country’s biggest multi-sport competition for the sixth time. However, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, it was suspended for more than two years.*
