P/Col. Timmar Alam is the new officer-in-charge of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NORPPO).

Alam took over the NORPPO command from P/Col. Lito Patay, who was temporarily designated as provincial police OIC, following the administrative relief of P/Col. Criscent Tiguelo, following a policeman’s shooting of three police officers and a civilian in Sibulan town last month.

PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, regional police director of Negros Island Region, personally installed Alam as NORPPO officer in charge on February 2, which was also attended by Governor Manuel “Chaco” Sagarbarria, among other PRO-NIR staff officers and police chiefs.

Prior to his present position, Alam served as chief of the PRO-NIR Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division.

Sagarbarria urged Alam and all Negros Oriental police chiefs  to step up their efforts in the fight against illegal drugs, as he also emphasized the need for strong, coordinated, and consistent actions, to build a safer and better Negros Oriental.

He expressed full confidence in Alam as NORPPO OIC, citing his professionalism and ability to lead with firmness and compassion amid evolving challenges.

Ibay also highlighted that unity, discipline, and collective commitment among personnel remain vital to sustaining peace and order.*
