Negros Power has restored 99.99% of electricity service across its franchise area in central Negros, as November 28.
Engr. Bailey del Castillo, Negros Power Chief Operations Officer, disclosed on Friday that only 24 of the 244,915 of its customers still have no power since Typhoon Tino on November 4.
Del Castillo said the remaining unenergized area is located in a mountainous peak of Brgy. Canlandog in Murcia, where extreme terrain and continuous rains have delayed final restoration.
Despite the challenging conditions, Del Castillo said Negros Power personnel continues to push through the power restoration, as soon as possible.
As the area is inaccessible to vehicles, del Castillo said the restoration team struggled on rough terrain, slippery slopes and repair points, forcing them to carry equipment and materials manually.
“Our team had to exit early due to weather conditions and low visibility, as safety always comes first,” he added.
The devastation brought by Typhoon Tino, especially in central Negros, caused widespread power interruptions across Negros Power franchise area, which includes Bacolod City, Silay City, Talisay City, Bago City, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto.
Negros Power assured the public that full power will be restored in the remaining area as soon as conditions allow.*
