Negros Electric and Power Corp. (NEPC) announced on Wednesday that they will neither implement power disconnections nor impose penalties, due to delays in sending bills to its consumers.
Rocella Ann Marie Fernandez, Head of the Revenue Management Department of Negros Power, explained that the delays int he delivery of bills resulted from the transition from Central Negros Electric Cooperative to Negros Power.
Since this is the first bill issued by Negros Power, several processes, including data migration, were required to gather and verify consumer data, caused temporary delays in the release of some bills.
Fernandez also cited additional factors contributing to the delay, such as old meters that could not be read, and instances of sudden increases or decreases in consumption, which requires investigation to ensure the accuracy of the bills.
She also said that consumers who receive multiple bills at once will be given a one-month extension for payment.
Fernandez said they expect the normalization in the delivery of bills by next month.*
