Consumers in Negros Occidental will see a slight adjustment in their power bills this month, as Negros Power announced an average residential electricity rate of P11.50 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for August 2025, up by P0.13/kWh from July’s P11.37/kWh.
The increase comes despite a significant surge in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), where the rate jumped from P4.88/kWh to P5.46/kWh, equivalent to an increase of P0.58/kWh.
According to a Negros Power press release, effective supply management and cost mitigation strategies helped lessen what could have been a much higher adjustment in consumer rates.
The transmission sector offered some relief as the Ancillary Services–Reserve Market charge decreased from P622.77/kW to P599.12/kW, or by P23.65/kW, leading to a P0.02/kWh reduction for residential consumers.
The utility company assured the public that it will continue implementing measures to cushion consumers against sudden spikes in electricity costs.*
