Power Watch Negros Advocates, a watchdog organization in the power industry, rated highly the performance of Negros Power’s Oplan Halalan 2025, in terms of power reliability and efficiency during elections.
Power Watch Negros Advocates secretary general Wennie Sancho said in a statement that the Comprehensive Contingency Plan of Negros Power is laudable because of its robust plan in place which included a command center to monitor the grid 24/7 with 37 field crews and 20 roving teams to address technical issues promptly.
PWNA was informed that relevant to infrastructure upgrades, Negros Power completed key infrastructure improvements such as Bacolod-Silay 69kV Line Rehabilitation and Alijis Transformer 2 Energization adding 18 MVA of distribution capacity, he said.
In addition, Sancho’s statement said that Negros Power conducted hotspot inspections, transformer maintenance and ensured all substations were fully energized and operational.
Added information by the Consumers Information Network (CIN), shows that in terms of collaboration with authorities, Negros Power worked closely with the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to ensure seamless communication and rapid response.
Sancho added that a dry run was conducted on May 10 by Negros Power to simulate procedures and communication protocols, ensuring the company’s system were ready for election day. Negros Power planned to conduct a performance assessment, keeps teams on standby for two more days and participate in clean up drives.
Overall, he is satisfied with Negros Power’s proactive approach and commitment to power reliability, voters safety and electoral transparency that contributed to a smooth electoral process in Central Negros, his statement added.*
