Primrose Catherine “Prime” Tejida of RMN DYHB Bacolod, was elected president of the Negros Press Club, during the club’s general assembly and election of officers for 2026-2027 Saturday at the NPC Media Center in Bacolod City.
Tejida ran unopposed and garnered 113 votes.
Elected vice president was Lourd John Diaz of Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, who won over former NPC president Erwin “Ambo” Delilan by a vote of 85 against 35.
Maureen Soliguen of FMR 91.1 was elected secretary, unopposed. She garnered 100 votes.
Aksyon Radyo Bacolod station manager Nona Magbanua won as treasurer by earning 91 votes against Nanette Guadalquiver of the Philippine News Agency who got 20 votes.
Merlinda Pedrosa of Sunstar Bacolod was elected auditor, unopposed and garnered 101 votes.
Elected members of the Board of Directors were Mae Singuay of Panay News who earned 97 votes, Eden Aboso of Aksyon Radyo Bacolod – 93 votes, Aletheia Netcast Bacolod station manager Chito Berjit – 88 votes, and Red Salgado of K5 News FM – 86 votes.
Tejida will officially assume as NPC president on March 1, succeeding outgoing NPC president Mark Gabriel Salanga.
Meanwhile, NPC past president Modesto Sa-onoy, who served as chairman of the Election Committee, said that this year is significant for the press club as it turns 90.
He challenged the newly elected NPC officers “to see to it that the people remember this important event. We are the oldest and only surviving press club in the Philippines.”
“This imposes for Prime and the Board a greater responsibility and ensures that our club will survive for the next 90 years,” Sa-onoy added.*
