Despite fighting with pride and determination, the Asia-Pacific softbelles, represented by the Bago Softball Team, failed to enter the championship round and landed fourth overall after facing back-to-back losses in the semi-finals match and the battle for third of the Senior League World Softball Series yesterday.
The Asia-Pacific entered the semi-finals match on Saturday after they shut down Georgia in a decisive 6-3 match led by the Bago City Star pitcher Erica Arnaiz, who recorded 13 strikes during the game.
However, the softbelles failed to enter the final round in their semi-final game against Michigan, USA, yesterday. The game ended with a dominant 3-13 score in favor of the Americans.
The Michigan team went on to claim the Senior League World Softball Series championship title with a commanding 10-nothing win over the home team, Delaware.
Meanwhile, the Asia-Pacific faced Hawaii during their battle for the third match at 11 p.m. yesterday, Philippine time, where the team suffered a tough 6-11 loss, ending their journey in 4th place out of 10 participating teams.
The Bago City softbelles claimed the Sportsmanship award given by the Little League World Softball Series at Delaware, USA.
On July 21, the 16-under Sagay City Girls Softball Team, placed 3rd out of 20 teams overall in the PONY International Softball World Series held at McAllen, Texas, in the United States of America, while it placed 4th overall among the 32 teams in the 14-under category.*
