Negros youth formations have launched the Katipunan ng Kabataan Laban sa Korapsyon (KKK), a broad island-wide youth alliance aimed at confronting systemic corruption rooted in bureaucrat capitalism, a press release from the organizers said.
The alliance brings together students, young workers, indigenous youth, urban poor youth, and young professionals to build a unified campaign for transparency, accountability, and genuine social reform across Negros Island.
Convenors of KKK come from the broad Negros Youth and include Rey Bantillo from Kabataan Party-list Negros, Paul Daniel Serrano from USLS USG DAP, Kassandra Grijaldo from Anakbayan Negros, along with the Tolentine Star, the Philippine Artisan Visayas, and other sectoral youth organizations.
KKK emphasizes that corruption in the Philippines is structural, arising from a system where public office is routinely used for private gain at the expense of workers, farmers, fisherfolk, communities, and the environment.
The formation of KKK also seeks to strengthen solidarity among youth in both provinces of Negros. Its organizers highlight the importance of linking youth struggles with broader movements for land reform, just wages, human rights, and climate justice.
As part of its initial campaign, KKK is leading the preparations for an island-wide Youth Mobilization on November 30 (Bonifacio Day). Youth delegations from campuses and communities across Negros Occidental are set to converge to call for full transparency in local budgets, public release of infrastructure contracts, and the auditing of joint ventures in water and energy. The mobilization will also raise demands such as dismantling political dynasties, reallocating intelligence and counterinsurgency funds toward essential social services, and protecting peasant and fisherfolk communities from land conversion and displacement.
The alliance also stresses the urgency of addressing environmental destruction linked to corruption, including questionable flood-control projects, unregulated quarrying, and mining activities that worsen climate vulnerability across Negros. Calls for rehabilitation of flood-prone areas and stronger environmental regulation will also be central to the November 30 protest.
KKK views the November 30 mobilization not as a one-day event but as the beginning of a long-term youth-led initiative. Following the mobilization, the alliance plans to establish KKK chapters in campuses and communities and organize people’s audit teams to monitor government budgets, infrastructure projects, and the delivery of public services. These sustained efforts aim to ensure that public funds truly serve the people and not private interests.
The Katipunan ng Kabataan Laban sa Korapsyon calls on all youth in Negros to rise, unite, and take part in the November 30 Youth Mobilization. The alliance affirms that the fight against corruption is a fight for land, livelihood, climate justice, and the future of the next generation.*
