New childcare and social services facilities completed in Silay

Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez and Mayor Joedith Gallego led the inauguration and blessing of Brgy. 1 multi-purpose building in Silay City.*

Three completed facilities in Silay City are set to strengthen the delivery of basic services at the barangay level, converting ordinary public spaces into dedicated hubs for childcare, community programs, and local governance, after inaugurations and blessings on April 20.

The projects, implemented under the Office of Negros Occidental Third District Representative Javier Miguel Benitez, include a daycare facility in Barangay Kapitan Ramon, a rehabilitated covered court in Barangay Guimbala-on, and a Multi-Purpose Building in Barangay 1, all in Silay City.

The 140-square-meter Child Development Center in Hacienda Violeta, Barangay Kapitan Ramon, replaced temporary and shared spaces previously used for early childhood education activities.

The facility is equipped with an activity area, kitchenette, storage space, waiting area, and separate toilets, providing a safer and more appropriate environment for Early Childhood Care and Development programs.

In Barangay Guimbala-on, the rehabilitation of the 16.45-meter-by-36.7-meter Covered Court has restored the structure to a fully functional venue for community use.

The project covered structural, electrical, plumbing, and finishing works, enabling the facility to better support social services, public gatherings, and other barangay activities. Meanwhile, in Barangay 1, an 11.50-meter by 5.42-meter Multi-Purpose Building was inaugurated, which will provide a permanent space for barangay functions and programs.

All three facilities are operational and are expected to improve access to essential services, particularly for families and children, while also supporting health, nutrition, and community development programs across the barangays.

The projects highlight the role of functional, multi-use infrastructure in strengthening grassroots service delivery, with each facility designed to address specific gaps in space, accessibility, and usability within the communities they serve, a press statement from the 3rd district congressional office said.*
