Commodore Edgar Ybanez yesterday relinquished his command of the Coast Guard District Western Visayas to his successor, Commodore Arnaldo Lim
Lim, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1995, was installed by Coast Guard deputy commandant for Operations, Vice Admiral Rolando Punzalan Jr., during turnover rites held at CGDWV headquarters in Iloilo City.
The CGDWV supervises all Coast Guard stations in Region 6.
Prior to his present position, Lim served acting district commander of Coast Guard District – National Capital Region, district commander of CGD Palawan and former chief of the Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information System Command.
He also served as commanding officer of BRP Habagat (TB-271).
The next assignment of Ybanez is not yet known as of this time. He used to the commander of the Coast Guard District – Negros Occidental.
Lim, in his speech, revealed his plans to establish more PCG sub-stations in Negros Island, as he also vowed to further improve the PCG capabilities in WV, especially in terms of disaster response.*
