• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The firepower and mobility of the Police Regional Office 6 got a boost after it received high powered firearms, and a patrol vehicle and rescue boat from Camp Crame.

In a statement, PRO 6 said it received 100 units of Galil automatic rifles with 3,600 ammunition, 700 of its magazines and related gun accessories, a Toyota Hilux patrol vehicle, and a rescue boat complete with dive equipment.

PLt. Col. Arnel Solis, regional police spokesman, disclosed that the recently issued equipment by the Philippine National Police and those procured under the Congress Initiated Changes/Adjustments (CICA) reflect the PRO 6 commitment to equipping its units and personnel with the necessary tools to carry out their sworn duties effectively and efficiently, to better serve the public.

Solis said the ordinance is intended for the newly activated Iloilo City Police Stations 6,7,8,9, and 10.

He further said the newly turned over equipment and provisions aim to enhance the operational capabilities of the recipient PNP units, enabling them to better respond to peculiar situations and challenges they are respectively facing.

The Toyota Hilux double cab 4×2 patrol vehicle was issued to the  Janiuay Police Station in Iloilo, while the rescue boat was given by PRO 6 to Antique Police Provincial Office.*
