The three-story La Castellana Police Station in Negros Occidental is now ready to serve Negrenses.
PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, and P/Col. Rainier de Chavez, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, yesterday turned over the symbolic key of the new police station to Mayor Alme Rhummyla Nicor Mangilimutan, in the presence of town police chief Police Major Rhojn Darell Nigos and other municipal officials.
Mangilimutan said the lot for the new police station was donated by the municipal government to the Philippine National Police in 2019 and its construction started in 2024, after she was able to secure a budget of P10 million from the PNP in 2022.
An additional budget of P1 million was allocated by the municipal government for the office equipment, perimeter fencing, among others, she added.
I believe that if their workplace is conducive, and treated it as their second home, they can deliver good services, effective and efficient to our people, said Mangilimutan, who used to serve as a policewoman.
Mangilimutan further said the old police station headquarters will be used as offices for the national government agencies, such as the Commission on Elections, Departments of Interior and Local Government, as well as Agrarian Reform, Association of Barangay Captains, and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation.
Wanky lauded the strong support of La Castellana officials led by Mayor Mangilimutan, to the town police.
If not for your help, this police station would still be a dream. At least for now, we have seen it a reality, he stressed.*
