New medical technologists take oath

About 219 newly registered medical technologists took their oath as professionals before Dr. Leila Lany Florento, a member of the Professional Regulatory Board of Medical Technology of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), at the La Proa Ballroom of L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City on May 8.

Dr. Patrick Joseph Mabugat, a topnotcher in the Medical Technology Licensure Examination in 2014 and Top 2 in the 2020 Physician Licensure Examination, was the keynote speaker. PAMET national president Luella Vertucio inducted the medical technologists as members of the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists Inc. (PAMET).

Medical Technology schools in Negros Island excelled in the March 2025 Medical Technology Licensure Examination, after having obtained a high passing rate of its examinees.

PAMET Negros Occidental Chapter presented the certificate of recognition to the following schools through its representatives namely, Dominador Maestral of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, Winnie Anne Escueta of Fellowship Baptist College-Kabankalan, Jade Sunico of Riverside College, and Czarina Mae Ferrer of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, and Kim Sarong of Silliman University in Dumaguete City.

The successful examinees who attended the ceremony were alumni from CSA-B, FBC, Riverside College, UNO-R, SU, Central Philippine University – Iloilo, Velez College – Cebu, Adventist University of the Philippines, San Pedro College – Davao, and Universidad de Zamboanga.

A ceremonial pinning by PAMET officials followed after the new medical technologists took their oath of membership. This officially welcomes the new members to the organization.

Also present during the event were Ma. Lourdes Gatbonton, a member of the Professional Regulatory Board of Medical Technology of PRC; Sheriel Loloy, division chief – Licensure and Registration of PRC-Iloilo; Maruja Japzon, PAMET regional director for Visayas; Lovella Benedicto, PAMET Negros Occidental chapter president; April Joy de la Rama, chapter vice president; Karl Bravo, chapter secretary; Liza Santillan, chapter treasurer; and Gemma de los Reyes, chapter auditor.

Members of the Board of Trustees present were Andrew Altarejos, Ma. Sylvia Azurin, Allan Benjamin, Ma. Therese Garsuta, Teresa Ogapong, Richelle May Ravina, Almira Torres, and Numeriano Torrillo Jr.

About 6,147 out of 7,659 examinees passed the board exams given by PRC in March 2025. The oath taking ceremony was hosted by PAMET Negros Occidental Chapter.*
