Following the appointment of Dr. Mary Ann Maestral as Department of Health undersecretary, Negros Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday named Dr. Francis Gabriel Relota as the new chief of the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Prior to his new position, Relota, who has a rank of Medical Officer 3, was the chief of the TLJPH Clinic.
Lacson disclosed that Dr. Maestral already accepted the DOH offer, while Dr. Relota told him that he is ready to take over the management of TLJPH.
He also thanked Dr. Maestral for what she has done in the improvement of services at the TLJPH.
“It is now a level 2 hospital, and we are now leading to level 3,” Lacson said.
Maestral was appointed as TLJPH chief by Lacson in 2021.
TLJPH is now a 200-bed capacity hospital, after it was approved by the DOH., she added.
Lacson further said that Dr. Relota told him that he is committed to continue the improvement of services at TLJPH.
Maestral said she is still awaiting instructions from Health Secretary Ted Herbosa on her assignment at DOH, following her appointment from Malacañang.*
