The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) received two new custom models of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) vans valued at P6.5 million from the Bacolod City Government.
BCPO Director PCol. Joeresty Coronica stated that the turnover of the new armoured vehicles is expected to be a major boost to the morale and operational capability of the four SWAT teams of the BCPO
“The SWAT is our refuge in man-made crises, like hostage takings and other incidents that require the expertise of our personnel. They are our final resort, and they are ready to bathe in bullets,” said Coronica.
The City Director noted that they already requested the city government for additional critical gear, including more ammunition, Level 4 vests, and ballistic shield for long firearms.
“This will be the model of all SWAT vans not only in Negros Island Region but even in other regions,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mayor Greg Gasataya said that the turnover is very much needed for the safety and protection of the SWAT team during critical operations.
“Definitely it will boost the peace and order operations in the city,” Gasataya said.*
