Nine drug arrests yield P12.5M shabu in Bacolod

The four buy bust operations on June 28 and 29 in Bacolod City, led to the confiscation of 1.85 kilograms of suspected shabu, valued at P12,525,600 million, and the apprehension of nine drug suspects, according to authorities.

Policemen on Saturday night seized an estimated P10.4 million worth of suspected shabu from five individuals they arrested during a buy bust operation at Hermelinda Subdivision in Barangay Mansilingan.

Nabbed were Nadal Verde, 42, who is categorized by the police as a High Value Individual drug personality, Cheryl Bulandras,36;  Richard Javellana, 34; John Kyle Treyes, 23; and Angelo Martinez, 23, all residents of Bacolod City.

Operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office Drug Enforcement Unit (BCPO – CDEU) seized about 1.5 kilos of suspected shabu valued at P10,438,000, and P20,000 in marked money, during the buy bust operation.

PLt. Col. Antonio Benitez, CDEU chief, disclosed that the confiscated shabu came from Luzon, and that Verde, who had been the subject of their monitoring operations, was operating in different areas of Negros Occidental.

In a report, the BCPO also said that the arrest of four other drug suspects by operatives of Police Stations 2, 5, 6, and 10 also yielded P2,124,600 worth of suspected shabu.

Of the nine arrested suspects, three were categorized by the BCPO as High Value Individual drug personalities, and the six as Street Level Individual drug personalities.

An estimated P1.02 million worth of suspected shabu was also seized by the police on June 27 during a buy bust operation at Purok 5 in  Barangay IV-Poblacion, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

The police also recovered a fragmentation grenade from one of the four arrested drug suspects, who they identified only as alias Niño.

The apprehension of two other drug suspects in Binalbagan and Sagay City yielded about P119,000 worth of suspected shabu, according to reports of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.*
