NIR crime incidents drop 11.82%

Crime volume in Negros Island Region dropped by 1,289 incidents in the past 11 months of this year, compared to the same period in 2024, according to reports of the Police Regional Office-NIR.

The total crime volume from January to November this year was reported by PRO-NIR at 10,903, compared to 9,614 last year, or a reduction of 11.82 percent.

These reductions highlight strengthened operations, enhanced police visibility, and sustained community operation, a report of PRO-NIR said.

NIR is composed of three provinces of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.

Negros Occidental crime volume also dropped by 11 percent in the same period.

A report of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) said that crime incidents from January to November 30 this year went down to 2,708, compared to 3,037 in the same period last year, a decline of 329 incidents, which is equivalent to 11 percent.

Index crimes, which include murder, homicide, rape, robbery, physical injuries, theft and carnapping, dropped by 24 percent, from 482 in 2024, to 371 this year.*
