Crime incidents last month in Negros Island Region dropped by 18.60 percent, compared to January, according to the police.
In a report, the Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region disclosed that crime incidents reduced to 700 for the month of February, compared to 860 the previous month, which is a decrease of 160 incidents.
The significant reduction reflects sustained efforts in crime prevention, focused police operations, and strengthened community partnerships across the region, a statement from the PRO-NIR said.
At the same time, the PRO-NIR also noted that the 8 Focus Crimes, composed of murder, homicide, physical injuries, robbery, rape, motorcycle theft and carnapping, also declined by 18.82 percent.
Despite the positive gains, the PRO-NIR reiterated that efforts to reduce crime will not be relaxed.
The regional police force further said that it will sustain focused police operations, strengthen intelligence-led approaches, and further enhance community-oriented programs to ensure lasting peace and security across all provinces.*
