NIR police to be augmented

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) received augmentation forces from Regions 6 and 7, which are expected to boost its law enforcement capability and operational readiness.

The 190 additional personnel who have been reassigned to PRO-NIR, are 100 police personnel from Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) and 90 police personnel from Police Regional Office 7 (PRO 7).

PLt. Col. Joem Malong, PRO-NIR spokesperson, said the augmentation personnel from Police Regional Offices 6 and 7 will be strategically distributed to various police units across the Negros Island Region.

The deployment ensures that each unit benefits from strengthened manpower, allowing the police force to intensify crime prevention operations, boost police visibility, and enhance response capabilities, ultimately reinforcing the region’s ability to maintain peace, uphold public safety, and address security challenges more effectively, Malong said in a statement.

The deployment of 190 more police personnel across the region took place as remnants of the New People’s Army are on a killing spree of innocent civilians they label as government spies, along with the destruction of properties.

With the reinforcement of additional personnel, PRO-NIR is better positioned to expand its operational reach, strengthen law enforcement initiatives, and deliver faster, more responsive police services to communities across the region, while supporting ongoing anti-criminality campaigns, community engagement efforts, and public safety operations, Malong said.*
