NIR’s 4th most wanted returned to jail

• RICHARD T. CABALLERO JR.

Negros Island Region’s fourth most wanted person, previously convicted for usage and selling of illegal drugs in the region, was apprehended after a manhunt operation carried out by the Talisay Component City Police Station on Wednesday at Purok Lagang, Barangay Zone 3.

Arrested was the 25-year-old jobless male identified by the alias “Richard,” who was apprehended in his own residence.

Police said that the accused had previously been convicted following a buy-bust operation, but was granted probation. However, during the course of his probation, he tested positive for illegal drug use, leading to the revocation of his probation and the issuance of a warrant for his arrest to serve his sentence.

The warrant was served for violation of Sections 5, 11, and 12 of RA 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Alias “Richard” is currently under the custody of Talisay CPS for proper disposition and will face criminal charges.

With this arrest, Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said in a statement that their accomplishments were made possible with the cooperation of the public, as they strive to safeguard communities against illegal drug activities.

“This accomplishment is a testament to PRO NIR’s unwavering commitment to deliver justice and to sustain the government’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs. It sends a strong message that those involved in drug-related offenses, no matter how long they attempt to evade the law, will ultimately be held accountable for their actions,” Regional Director PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay said.*
