After two years of hiding, the Negros Island Region’s top 6 most wanted person was successfully nabbed by the Sagay Component City Police Station at Sitio Chloe, Barangay Rizal, at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
The wanted personality was identified as Ruel Punzalan, 37, and a married construction worker and resident of Purok Halandumon, Barangay Baviera in Sagay City.
Punzalan was accused of two counts of rape and two counts of acts of lasciviousness and faces charges in violation of RA 8353 and Section 5 of Republic Act 7610.
The apprehension of the suspect was made by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 73, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, on June 06, 2023.
No bail was recommended for Punzalan, who was also recognized as one of the top 10 most wanted persons at the city and provincial levels.
The suspect is now under the custody of the police for proper disposition.*
