Brushing aside criticisms, Mayor Rex Jalando-on said the “no booster, no entry policy” will still be enforced in La Carlota City Hall and its adjacent two main buildings.
Jalando-on, a physician, stressed that he only wanted to protect his constituents against COVID-19.
Those who may want to be vaccinated, or avail of booster shot, they can avail it for free at the City Health Office, he added.
“It is not that I just want to impose my authority, and for my own whimsical move, but it is for the good of the people of La Carlota,” Jalando-on stressed.
The “no booster shot, no entry” policy is contained in an executive order issued by Jalando-on that took effect July 1.
For unvaccinated individuals, they are being required by the concerned local government unit to present negative RAT/RT-PCR results.
Jalando-on also plans to require all teachers and students who will be attending face-to-face classes by Nov. 2 to be fully vaccinated.
In Negros Occidental, La Carlota City has consistently been included in the list of component cities in the country under Alert Level 1 due to high vaccination rate.*
