No election related violence in Negros yet – Comelec

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

So far, so good.

This was how Provincial Comelec supervisor Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria yesterday described the campaign period for the synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in Negros Occidenta over the past several days

Ananoria reported that they have not monitored any election related violence, especially in the 51 election areas of concern (EACs).

He also said that the encounter in Brgy. Canlusong, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, has nothing to do with the election, and is not considered as an ERVI (election related violent incident).

In a statement, the New People’s Army Roselyn Pelle Command in northern Negros said that they will not disrupt the electoral process, will allow candidates to campaign freely, and voters to choose their favored candidates.

Compared to previous elections, he reported that violation to Comelec rules and regulations appeared to be lesser, which he partly attributed to the issuance of show cause orders (SCOs) for premature campaigning to 148 candidates in the province.

Meanwhile, Ananoria said all accountable forms for the BSKE have already arrived in the province over the weekend.

We are currently verifying the completeness of the ballots, election returns, and other election paraphernalia, he added that if the supply is lacking they will report it to the national office for augmentation.*
