Mayor Greg Gasataya has debunked rumors regarding the entry of a new transport company into Bacolod City, providing much-needed clarity for local operators and drivers.
The issue was brought to the mayor’s attention by a group of taxi drivers and operators concerned about potential competition.
Following a direct inquiry with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Regional Director Richard Osmeña, Gasataya confirmed that no such plans are on the table.
Gasataya emphasized that the city currently has a sufficient number of taxi units and modernized transport vehicles.
“If we add more, then it will only create a problem in terms of the number of vehicles in Bacolod City,” Gasataya said.
The mayor’s statement aims to ease the worries of local drivers and operators who feared that additional competition might impact their livelihoods.*
