As the provincial government of Negros Occidental further heightened its vigilance against African Swine Fever, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz yesterday said that they asked augmentation police personnel from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office to help guard checkpoints, especially at the Banago Port in Bacolod City.
Diaz said the NOCPPO personnel will replace the detailed policemen of the Bacolod City Police Station, which is now experiencing a lack of manpower.
Negros Occidental and the highly urbanized City of Bacolod have imposed a ban on the entry of live pigs, boar semen and pork related products from Panay and Guimaras, following the detection of ASF in Iloilo.
The Task Force ASF has already seized P448,125 worth of pork products in the different ports of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.*
