The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office is assuring Negrenses of a safe and secured Holy Week celebration, that is being marked from March 28 to April 4 this year.
NOCPPO deputy spokesperson Lt. Abegael Donasco said disclosed the PNP manpower requirements have been beefed up by 2,375 force multipliers to secure places of worship, bus terminals and other areas being frequented by the people.
As the New People’s Army also marks its anniversary March 29, Donasco said that the rebel group may take advantage of the situation, which prompted them to be on full alert status.
Donasco also said that city and municipal police stations have been tasked to establish Police Assistance Desks, deploy police beat patrollers and covert police personnel to areas where people converge.
Road safety marshals and traffic personnel were also dispatched to major routes, to manage the traffic and secure the roads for travelers, she added, stressing also that there are no changes on regular police functions such as public safety and anti-criminality activities.
With the continued threats of COVID-19 to the Negrense populace, Donasco said police stations will also deploy teams of police officers, who will ensure that the public adheres to the minimum health standards against the infectious virus.*
