P/Col. Rainerio de Chavez, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, joined his colleagues in supporting the designation of P/Major General Nicolas Torre III as the incoming chief of the Philippine National Police.
Torre is the first graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy to occupy the position of PNP chief, ending the dominance of the Philippine Military Academy in holding the position.
De Chavez, also a graduate of PNPA, in a statement, described the appointment of Gen. Torre as historic, since he is the first PNP chief to have graduated from the Philippine National Police Academy.
With his leadership, I am confident that the PNP will continue to advance its mission of ensuring peace and order, upholding the rule of law, and fostering strong community relations,he said.
As we face the challenges of modern policing, I look forward to collaborating with him to implement innovative strategies that enhance our operational effectiveness and community engagement, de Chavez said.
“Your leadership will inspire the next generation of police officers to serve with honor and distinction,” de Chavez further said.*
