BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office has suspended the issuance of Travel Authority (TA) for Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) going to the National Capital Region and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal and Laguna, its spokesman, Maj. Edison Garcia, said yesterday.

Garcia said the suspension of the issuance of travel authority to those areas placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine took effect Aug. 4 to Aug. 18, unless extended.

However, he said that Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APORs) or the essential workers of sectors permitted by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) against Covid-19, persons on Indispensable Travel (IT), and outbound overseas Filipino workers, who are returning to work, will not be affected by the order.

Garcia also said that the suspension is part of the IATF’s protocols observed in areas placed under MECQ.

With this development, he advised LSIs who are affected by the order to take necessary adjustments to avoid any inconvenience in their travel.

Garcia also reported that NOCPPO arrested 1,906 health protocol violators from March 17 to August 2, including 1,733 curfew violators and 173 for not wearing face masks, non-observance of social distancing, and mass gathering in public places.*
