Governor Bong Lacson and Vice Governor Joeben Alonso yesterday led the inauguration of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC) at Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City.
The event was attended by provincial officials, representatives from national government agencies, private companies, the academe, and department and office heads from the Capitol.
The new site features a three-storey NOLITC building and a two-storey campus dormitory. It is the newest innovation hub that will cater to the needs of industry, the academe, and the community.
NOLITC is a registered and accredited technical-vocational school owned and operated by the Provincial Government, with a focus on the information and communications technology and language sectors.
Sean Mahoney, CEO of the International College of Advanced Education; Alana Kaye Anderson, CEO of Alana Kaye College; and Brian O’Gallager, Member of Parliament of the Northern Territory, Australia, signed and witnessed a Memorandum of Agreement for a collaboration in the delivery of Australian vocational education and training courses at NOLITC.
As part of the program, DepEd Negros Occidental also received 1,000 vouchers for the upskilling of public school teachers.
Also present at the event were Board Members Rita Gatuslao, Mayvelyn Madrid, Bambi Depasucat, and Richard Sablan; Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz; Talisay City Mayor Rowena Lizares; NOLITC Vocational School Administrator Dr. Ma. Cristina B. Orbecido; DepEd Negros Occidental Schools Division Superintendent Gladys Amylaine Sales; East West International Educational Specialists, Inc. CEO Dr. Dennie Franco Layug; TESDA NIR Regional Director Niña Connie Dodd; and former DICT Usec. Atty. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, among others.
